Router Ports

Ports / Holes
Different routers call this function by different names. Some call it port forwarding, pinholes, special application or something similar. It is almost always in an advanced setup menu.

When the DVR is connected on a router there are ports that need to be opened. Some special applications and devices (such as the DVR) use this function to allow outside data to be forwarded to a specific inside device.

The ports that must be opened are 8200 (Admin), 8016 (Watch), 10019 (Search) and in some cases 8201 (Call Back -- refer to the DVR manual for Call Back use) and the protocol type is TCP/IP.

If are able to connect with one part of the RAS program and not another check the ports.

DMZ / Virtual Server
Different routers call this function by different names. Some call it DMZ, virtual server or something similar. It is almost always in an advanced setup menu. If this is used then the ports do not need to be open. This will open all ports to the DVR.

Remember that the IP address that you use for the DVR must be out of the range that is used by the DHCP server.
